Press release from August 2nd, 2019

The replacement construction of the Salvador-Allende-Bridge in Köpenick is progressing. Currently, work is underway to prepare for the assembly of the bridge's western superstructure.

The bridge segments prefabricated at the Nordhausen steel plant have been welded together in recent weeks, on the south side of the bridge, and have already been advanced over the southern stream pier to the middle of the waterway.

On August, 5th, 2019, the superstructure will be pushed 21 meters onto the northern stream pier.

On June 8th, 2019, the superstructure will be further raised so that on July 8th, 2019, further advancement to the north abutment can take place. Subsequently, the superstructure will be lowered to final position on August 8th, 2019.

Due to the complexity of the measure, the waterway must be fully closed for the superstructure installation from August 5th to 9th, 2019.

The eastern superstructure will remain passable for pedestrian and bicycle traffic during this time.

We ask for your understanding for the upcoming work.
