Press release from DEGES German Unity Trunk Road Planning and Construction GmbH:
In connection with the renovation of the Leinefelde junction on the B 247, we would like to inform you as follows:

After four months of construction, the double roundabout at the Leinefelde junction will be opened to traffic on Monday, November 20th, around 12 p.m. The release also includes the exit from the B 247 to the street "Birkunger Straße" in the direction of A 38 and - coming from the direction of Birkungen - the entrance from "Birkunger Straße" to the B 247.

With the opening of the double roundabout, the state road 3080 (former B 247) is now finally connected to "Birkunger Straße". The connection was initially made provisionally via the south industrial area when the Kallmerode bypass was opened to traffic on December 7, 2022.

The expansion and new construction of the access ramps north of the B 247, including a roundabout, a bridge over the Ohne and a retaining wall, are still proceeding according to plan. During the construction period, "Birkunger Straße" between the streets "Lisztstraße/Birkunger Straße" roundabout and the new double roundabout will remain completely closed to motorized traffic. "Birkunger Straße" in this area can be used for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as for residents north of the Ohne. The conversion of the Leinefelde junction is necessary because the planned Leinefelde western section (L 3080n) is expected to result in a significant increase in traffic numbers in the area of the junction, meaning that traffic performance in this area must be increased.

According to current planning, the work should be completed by the end of 2024. The expected total costs for converting the Leinefelde junction are almost six million euros.
